We bought an old Edwardian house in Lancashire UK in 1992. It was dilapidated and the kitchen was the first room to be renovated. It had not been touched since 1901. In 1994, whilst making an omelet in the kitchen, I turned to my left to see a small middle aged women wearing a straw boater hat and a blue pinafore dress smiling at me.
It was not frightening. She just stared and it lasted about 10 seconds. Later the same year it happened again, then in again 1995 but this time she had a small white Scottie dog with her. Since then she appears about once a year. There does not seem to be a pattern to it. I was informed by a neighbor that about 15 years ago whilst she was talking to the lady of the house in the garden, she was thrown across the lawn by a ghostly apparition.
The local priest was called in to bless the house and it stopped. Apparently a murder occurred in this house in the 1930's and I'm trawling the newspapers to try and find evidence. More importantly I would like to see photographs of the people involved. The kitchen ghost appeared again last night, with the dog, there was movement it was not a 'still' picture, but still not frightening. I don't think this is wild imagination or hysteria and I believe there is a scientific reason. I am a psychologist by profession and look at these phenomena from a rational perspective although I have no explanation of this.
