A four year old news story comes up again
Nearly four years ago the so-called Montauk Monster washed up on the shores of New York, but just last week a dead dog washed up on the shores of San Diego, California and some are claiming it is the same thing. I honestly feel sort of silly covering this, because even at face value the two corpses found are clearly two different things.
Fran Drescher Believes She Was Abducted By Aliens
The nanny from Flushing, Fran Drescher, may in fact be the nanny from outer space. That's if you believe the actress' dramatic story about being abducted by aliens -- something she truly believes happened to her.

"You know, it's funny because Peter (Fran's ex-husband) and I both saw [aliens] before we knew each other, doing the same thing, driving on the road with our dads," Fran tells me, in all seriousness. "We were both in junior high. A few years later, we met, and we realized that we had the same experience. I think that somehow we were programmed to meet. We both have this scar. It's the exact same scar on the exact same spot."

But ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson wasn't so convinced of the couple's extraterrestrial pasts. He says Fran got the small scar on her hand from a a drill bit or burning herself holding a hot cup of water. But Fran says, no way.

"I said to him, that's what the aliens programmed us to think," Fran explains. "But really, that's where the chip is."
Ghost tour returns to the windy city
A legend in it's own right, Chicago Hauntings Tours owned by the top Chicago Paranormal Author, Ms. Ursula Bielski. Chicago Hauntings has been long standing as 'The Tour' of Haunted Archer Avenue to experience and it returns in 2012 on January 14th, from 2pm - 5pm.

Hosting this return tour to Haunted Archer Avenue is Ms. Nichole Shanahan. Nichole is a lifetime resident who has lived within ten minutes of the haunted locations on Archer Avenue.

Nichole has spent a lot of time exploring and experiencing the locations on the tour from the time she started to drive.

Not only does she bring the paranormal knowledge and her personal experiences at the locations to the Chicago Hauntings Tours. But she also brings the historic knowledge to the tours as she has always been a researcher of Chicago land history.

The combination of the experiences and historic along with her entertaining personality brings a unique entertaining paranormal tour to those who participate.

Few roads in the world rival the super-haunted reputation of Chicago's Archer Avenue, home to some of the city's most legendary ghost stories, including the most famous Vanishing Hitchhiker on earth, Resurrection Mary. This road was constructed by poor Irish immigrants --builders of the controversial and ill-funded Illinois & Michigan Canal-- who laid down the road over an ancient Indian trail known for its spiritual powers. The slavelike conditions of their labor, their deaths from hunger, thirst, disease and violence: all live on in the deep folklore of this storied region.

The prices: $30 per person. Two pickups: Clark and Ohio, Chicago, 1pm. Chet's Melody Lounge, Summit, Illinois, 2pm.

Lawsuits in this life and the next
Well, the lawsuit by two former producers against Ghost Hunters is back on, yet again. Apparently the idea of hunting ghosts on television is so new (it's not, hey there In Search Of...) that it's worth suing not only Ghost Hunters but similar shows as well. I definitely hope the lawsuit goes in favor of Ghost Hunters and friends, because this is just insane.
UFO photographed over Arbroath, Scotland
Edward Cairney (59) spotted the seemingly disc-shaped object on Wednesday afternoon when looking west towards Dundee from the rear window of his home in Arbroath.

He took two pictures of the UFO, between 1.50-2.10pm, before it disappeared from view.

He said: ''It was around sunset and at first I thought it was maybe just the moon shining in a strange way or something like that.''

He added: ''I was standing at the back window looking to the west towards Dundee. There were a couple of passengers planes in the sky and, as the sun set, there was a bit of an air passage towards the west.

''The planes were painted red by the sunshine but this thing wasn't. It was just so weird.''

Mr Cairney, who lives in Strathairlie Avenue, said his son Ross (28) also saw the light as he was driving to Dundee.

Close up.

''My son was travelling to Dundee and he phoned to say he saw it. He was about 15 miles away at the time and he said it looked like a light in the sky.''

A spokesman for RAF Leuchars confirmed there had been no activity in the area and nothing unusual had appeared on the radar.

After seeing the picture Matt Lyons, chairman of the British UFO Research Association, suggested a number of theories -- including a streak on the camera lens -- but said further analysis would be required.
Houstonpress.com blogger lays the hate on thick trashing Ghost Adventures
It's not really often that you read something so full of eye-rolling hatred and annoyance that you yourself become annoyed. That's what I experienced when I read Pete Vonder Haar's blog piece about the Travel channel show Ghost Adventures. You really just have to read his post (linked above as the source) to really understand what I'm talking about, he especially seems to hate Zak Bagans, whom he compares to the lead singer of Papa Roach. Zak Bagans is way hotter than that goofy looking bastard.
New underwater animals found in Indian ocean
London: Scientists have captured remarkable images of life from one of the most inhospitable spots in the ocean, volcanic underwater vents, sometimes called black smokers.

The UK researchers, who have been surveying the area in the South West Indian Ridge in the Indian Ocean, found an array of creatures living in the super-heated waters, including yeti crabs, scaly-foot snails and sea cucumbers.

They believe some of the species may be new to science.

Rectangular UFO spotted over Brazil
Attorney Carlos Gonçalves Pascoal has lived the last 24 days somewhat differently than before. Several unusual reports have been heard in various regions, and Carlos is one of the ones claiming to have seen a UFO, which he described as rectangular and bright.

His incident occurred in the early evening on Christmas Eve, Carlos driving on the MT-208 highway, towards Carlinda Alta Floresta, was surprised by the object. "I returned from Carlinda to Alta Floresta, in the height of about 10 km to get here in Alta Floresta, I noticed a rectangular object, flying straight, but a it was beautiful; it was a red color, and after about 3 to 4 seconds it was gone... disappeared," the lawyer reported.

Claiming to be an outrageous thing of beauty, and still impressed by what he witnessed, Carlos says the experience was unique, "The object was very beautiful indeed. I was amazed because it was a pretty color, but an unknown object up to the same rectangular shape, but a very pretty color, very rare to see a different shade of red than I'm familiar with. "

Being a professional in the city credit, Paschal ensures that he actually saw a UFO and that at no time friends doubted him, "I believe there are people who can create an event to call attention, is not my case, I'm a lawyer I have balanced my professional life, I have no reason for self-promotion, the reaction I had, I hope others have too, the reaction was a joy, a joy it gave me, at any time gave me some embarrassment, was a beautiful light. "
Haunted house for sell!
These are the sorts of reveries that come to mind when you enter historic Tulloona House - and if your bank account is up for it, those dreams could come true.

The heritage-listed, opulent Goonellabah building, which dates from 1895, is for sale.

Owners Sue and Michael Dakin have poured thousands of hours, masses of energy and piles of money into a full restoration job and now their work is done, their children are grown, and they are ready to move on.

The selling price is under wraps but the value of the house is considerable.

It has been a home, a church, and a bed and breakfast in its many incarnations.

It has also had periods of decay and dilapidation.

There have always been rumours it was haunted.

"When we moved in there was definitely some sort of entity haunting the place," Sue told The Northern Star.

"It's definitely gone now, but it gave off a terrible smell. In one of the fireplaces, I saw this really evil-looking face. It didn't go away 'til Michael took to it with a chisel."

"I'm a sceptic," Michael added, "but the smell was so strong it made your blood run cold and your imagination run wild."

Free of its ghosts, the house is listed with The Professionals in Lismore and Elders in Ballina and through them, can be seen internationally on the internet.

"It needs to be lived in and used as a working concern, maybe as a function centre or boutique accommodation. There are plenty of options," Ms Dakin said.

As well as carrying out their "grand design" on the house, the Dakins have converted an old schoolhouse in the parkland that surrounds it into a self-contained studio.

They have also installed a sparkling swimming pool.

Ducks and chooks roam the garden and the property is effectively fenced.
Peterborough, England police deal with a lot of ghosts
Police in Peterborough have been called on to act as ghost busters by victims who feel they may have been targeted by thieves and yobs from beyond the grave.

Findings released by Cambridgeshire Police following a Freedom of Information request by The Evening Telegraph, show Peterborough police have been alerted on six occasions in the last three years to deal with ghostly apparitions.

And in an eerie twist, three of these sightings occurred on the same date - 9th September - in consecutive years.

Two sightings also happened on the same day - 21st February this year - in central Peterborough.

Police said that all reports featuring the word 'ghost' in the last three years had occurred within the county's Northern Division which covers the whole of Peterborough.

The full list of ghostly sightings reported to police includes:

- On 9 September 2009: police were called to a report of a burglary in the PE1 post code area.

The caller told officers it was believed there was a ghost in their house but no trace was ever found.

- On 21 November 2009: a disturbance in a field adjoining a house in Thorney was reported.

Officers were told by locals that this may have been caused by the ghost of a child.

- On 9 September 2010: police were called to a home in Stanground one week after an attempted burglary.

Officers reported that a child had woken at night and believed that a ghost was trying to enter through a window.

- On 21 February 2011: officers stopped a "confused woman" in Peterborough city centre.

They noted that she appeared to be "talking to ghosts".

- On the same date in the PE1 area, police received a call from a person who claimed to be hearing "ghost noises" as well as seeing hands coming over the top of a door.

The caller also reported a group of three males outside the property, one of whom was a white male.

- On 9 September 2011: a driver on the A47 in central Peterborough reported a person walking down a slip road onto the carriageway against the flow of traffic.

The driver was described to be in such a state of shock that it felt like they "had seen a ghost".

In all cases police say that no further action was taken by officers.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: "Reports like these are extremely rare but where people have genuine concerns they or their property is at risk we will investigate if appropriate."

However, the sightings have come as little surprise to Stuart Orme, who works at the supposedly-haunted Peterborough Museum and organises popular ghost walks through the city centre.

Mr Orme said: "Peterborough is an ancient city with a lot of history and tales get built up over time.

"We have an historic cathedral and other old buildings with links to hundreds of people from the past.

"There have been lots of ghost stories in the city over the years and we go through these on our walks.

"I would say that around 80 per cent of ghost stories can be explained with a rational answer.

"But it's the remaining 20 per cent that no matter how hard you try to think of one, no logical answer exists."

Among the places which are said to be haunted are the Queensgate Shopping Centre and the city's museum.

The museum is said to be stalked by the ghost of a First World War Australian Soldier Sergeant Thomas Hunter, who was taken there in 1916 after being wounded.

Back then the museum was a hospital and Sergeant Hunter died there.

Since then staff have regularly reported furniture being mysteriously moved about.

Peterborough Cathedral is also said to be haunted by three ghosts.

The apparition of a little girl who was apparently murdered there in the 1860s is said to have appeared in a window in one of the building's precincts.

The ghosts of a monk and a stone mason who also supposedly died there have been spotted as well.

The city's Cowgate area is believed to be haunted following an incident of body snatching back in the 1820s.

Mr Orme added: "Although the museum is currently closed to the public we still have staff working here and some of those have heard mysterious footsteps when nobody else was around.

"There have been several ghost sightings at the Queensgate Shopping Centre over the past 30 years.

"The centre is built on an old residential area which used to contain shops and homes so people say the ghosts could be former residents there."

So why are people so fascinated by ghost sightings and what should they do if they experience one?

Mr Orme said: "Ghost sightings capture people's imaginations because they are linked to our fascination about what happens after death.

"I have met people who claim to have seen ghosts and some of them are the most down-to-earth rational men and women you could ever meet.

"But when they start telling you about the ghost they saw their belief is completely rigid and no amount of reasoning can change their minds.

"At the end of the day people are suckers for a good ghost story - even those who don't believe in ghosts - and that's never going to change."

The grim activities of the body snatchers

At the end of Cowgate, there used to stand a graveyard, which was removed when the Queensgate Shopping Centre was built.

Eerily, it was one of the last places in the UK to be raided by grisly body snatchers who dug up freshly buried corpses and sold them to doctors for medical practice.

One evening in 1828 a cart was seen outside the cemetery with two men loading suspicious sacks onto it.

The alarm was raised and the men fled, with a cart chase ending near Norman Cross on the edge of the city. Here the men abandoned their getaway cart and fled over the fields.

But do their victims still wander Cowgate, eternally trapped and angry at their sad fate?
